A Message from the CEO

Greening a company takes a lot of effort from everybody and I couldn't do it without the support of the entire Bauer's team. Starting at the age of 18 with one vehicle and building this fleet to what it is today with more than 200 vehicles has taken the help and dedication of a lot of people. But the idea of a "Green" company is something that I've worked towards for over 10 years with CNG, propane, and bio-diesel fueled vehicles.

As an Executive Board member of the San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau, I'm in full accord with the efforts San Francisco is making to "go green", and I've given a lot of thought into how our company can contribute to those efforts. And as a Board member of the California Limousine Association, I have access to other energy-conserving ideas and how we can use the technology currently available to keep the Bauer’s fleet as green as possible.

I'm active in other civic and industry areas, as well. In addition to my work with livery industry advocacy groups in Washington, I'm serving on the San Francisco Congestion and Pollution committee to assist in alleviating many of those commuter issues that currently face San Francisco's public transit. I was also a committee member of the San Francisco Airport Congestion and worked to replace 65 buses with 16 clean air CNG and propane motorcoaches. The Full Circle Fund accomplishes specific goals such as Clean tech and alternative energy, sustainable urban development and building liveable communities, green jobs, green building programs, global warming and climate change initiatives, environmental health, corporate environmental responsibility and social justice.

I'm often asked to be a speaker on "Greening Your Company", and offered my thoughts recently at Samceda’s Greening Your Business Conference, Always On Going Green Conference, the National Limousine Association's Greening Your Fleet and the Cal Transit Association Conference.

San Francisco park

Even with all the "industry greening", some of my favorite opportunities are much less grand. Bauer's works with the City of San Francisco’s Parks and Recreation department identifying parks that need assistance, and through their Parks program, Bauer’s has co-sponsored with the City their clean air message with all publications, e-mails and website links that go out to every resident in the San Francisco County.

The opportunities to get involved are endless. All of us here at Bauer's Intelligent Transportation are doing what we can to Save the Earth One Mile at a Time.
